Remote Working

Everything has changed since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2019. More than five years ago, most of companies believed that working from home or remote working environment was a bad policy. It’s only available for an employee who has special cases or to accommodate an employee who has family affairs or doctor appointments. Many employers believed their workforce would be too easily distracted at home, where their managers couldn’t keep an eye on their direct reports. One major concern most employers had for remote working was a loss of productivity. It seemed impossible to work from home for a few consecutive days. But everything has changed nowadays.

I still remember a moment when I still worked in a Multinational Financial Institution around 2019. One of the employees asked a question about the option of working remotely to the CEO when we had a floor meeting. The CEO answered it firmly that it wouldn’t be applied in a big company. But after a few months, the company had no choice. Everything must take place online, and the company successfully applied the new working system from home, from early 2019 until the end of 2021.

How about iMiTYWORKS? iMiTYWORKS began in 2017, developed by three women who love the idea of working remotely since a decade ago when they worked at the same company before creating iMiTYTeam. They believed that remote working support employees to be more productive than their office-based counterparts, enabling them to learn new skills and have a balanced life. We can save the time of going to the office every day by doing something more productive rather than being trapped in traffic, specifically if we live in Jakarta. When iMiTYWORKS decided to build an official business entity; PT IMAJI INTI KREASI in October 2021, the founders still applied this working system until now. The three masterminds of iMiTYWORKS even live or separate sometimes in three different countries, and they can handle many projects together from different timezones. One of the client offices is in New York City, and they can manage a few projects from a few countries.

Remote working is about collaboration, responsible, adaptability, honesty, and time management. As long as the employees have those personal and key soft skills, it can help the company find success in a remote working environment.
